Books, Around India in 80 Trains by Monisha Rajesh

The words, Train Hopping, and the picture of a train on the cover of a magazine captured my attention today. It’s the June 2013 issue of  Khabar magazine.  There’s an article inside about a book, Around India in 80 Trains. You can also read it online by clicking on this link archived on page 48.

“For four months, using an IndRail pass, Monisha Rajesh traveled on Indian trains__fast and slow, big and small, luxurious and dilapidated__covering major parts of a country that her parents had left behind when they moved to England.  What was it like for this journalist? Khabar brings excerpts from her debut book.”

This is a must-read for me. I’ve been to India, did take the train once and it was quite the experience. Also trued to take one of the luxury train trips but it didn’t work out. Would love to read her impressions of it. Thanks!

    • You’re welcome and I believe it will be a good read. Even though I probably will never make it to India, I’m still interested in reading her book and learning about the 80 trains.

I just discovered this interesting post and thought of adding it to my Indian Diaries series . This is a helpful read for all those train lovers like me and those who love to experience intrepid India travel on the cheap
