I’ve had these two portraits of the same girl posing for a long time and every time I look at them I ask the same question: “Who is the girl in this portrait?”

I would ask myself the same question. Beautiful portraits.

My grandmother (in Missouri) has a very similar engagement picture taken in 1899. The same poses, hair-do, straight back and soft dress were still around for my great aunt’s (California) engagement picture in 1921.
Do you have family or friends who’ve offered suggestions? She’s a beautiful woman.
Unfortunately I have few old family photographs and this is not one of them. Thanks for commenting. Maybe this picture is from 1921 because of the hairstyle.
Ah, I would say just this: be careful of drawing too much from a few seconds of a person’s life. That’s part of the allure – the mystery of not knowing.
Yes, it is and not knowing continues to make it mysterious. In the news: they’re still trying to find out who posed for the Mona Lisa.
She is beautiful. Reminds us of our childhood innocense and happier, care free times. Of what’s pure, beautiful and simple.
Yes, I think of those days often and even today I try to keep things simple.
She is very pretty and demure. You don’t hear of that trait much anymore.
I agree; and, now that I think about it, she somehow has a Victorian look about her.
…. enjoy them as they are for the world that they evoke. She is a lovely messenger from long ago…
Yes, she is a lovely messenger and thanks for commenting…
