A Little Boy’s First Pet

I would never have believed what my six-year old grandson received for his “first pet” unless I had seen it for myself. When asked7-Charlie Lobby what does he eat? I learned that his food is kept in a separate cage.

Oh, I almost forgot to tell you that it only takes one second for “Charlie” to chase the crickets and catch his prey. The rest of the time he spends inside his glass terrarium sometimes staring at the blank wall behind him. There should be a painting of an Australian sunset there for him to look at while he waits to be taken outside for a walk at the park.

And, this ends the Bearded Dragon story about a little boy and his first pet.

  2. What a cute lizard! Charlie looks good. How big will he get, I wonder?
This seems like a good solution when you have various allergies in the family.
    Have a relaxing Weekend, Mary.

  3. Charlie is such a cute name. Bearded Dragon is the surprise part. But my grandson is the same way–and his sister, too–and they both would love to have a Charlie.
    Great pictures.

  4. My foster brother growing up, a lizard was all he wanted – and he got it. Me? I wanted the bear cubs, horses, etc.

  5. Charlie is going to be more than just a pet. He will be your son’s cool looking friend and I bet they will share with you tons of adventures. My son has a turtle and fishes. His dream pet, a dog. Perhaps soon. Have a great weekend.

  6. Nice “fellow”. I have never heard about bearded dragon.

  10. The cricket capture is definitely the most exciting aspect of owning this pet.

  11. Beardies are awesome, so much character:)

  12. Oh my, no little doggie for your grandson? Lol I hope he doesn’t grow too large 🙂

  13. What a cute little pet, like a little dragon! Hope he can take good care of it.

  14. So Handsome Charlie is, a first pet mehhh… for a six yo ehhh… they are easy to care for, but a kitten or a puppy may have been a better choice??? Just be sure that if “Charlie” has to go elsewhere that he has a fair chance, pet store or somewhere hot…too many kids ditch their pets in the wild thinking they are safer…depending on your location it may actually ensure his death…

A handsome dragon he is! I’ve read they are a marvellous choice for a first pet, being friendly, and relatively easy to care for.
